Homegear + HomeMatic Wired LAN Gateway (HMW-LGW)

Hi there !

Up to now, I was using the [RS485 - Serial (UART) Module] which for some reason I do not manage to get to work anymore with the raspbian/openhab/bullseye setup.

So I bought a new communication module, the HomeMatic Wired LAN Gateway (HMW-LGW).

I followed the configuration instructions, but at first, no luck in searching for devices through the homegear shell. I then set the

responseDelay = 60

and the device discovery started working.

Next step was to make it work with Openhab. My Thing definition file did not change:

Bridge homematic:bridge:homegear [ gatewayAddress="127.0.0.1" ] {
// some thing definitions here
}

The OH log shows the following:

Thing 'homematic:bridge:homegear' changed from OFFLINE (COMMUNICATION_ERROR): java.util.concurrent.ExecutionException: java.util.concurrent.TimeoutException: Total timeout 15000 ms elapsed to OFFLINE (COMMUNICATION_ERROR): java.util.concurrent.ExecutionException: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Connect Timeout

It seems to be a communication issue between OH and Homegear. Any ideas?

your log shows several problems running homegear one of which most likely contributes to the communication problem. You should fix them one after the other before trying the openhab communication.

I stumbled upon three things in that log that look like errors:

Error binding RPC servers

→ I changed the ports like here.

(2)

Error in file Node-BLUE/NodeManager.cpp

→ I am only using homematic wired, so I guess (hope) this does not concern me. I might be wrong.

(3)

Critical: Can't start more threads. Thread limit reached (217 threads)

→ I did not find a solution for this and I have no idea what to do.

It looks like I am not the only one who struggles to make the combo OH4 + HG work here. All help is appreciated! My house installation is “down” and I am a bit losing faith here.

By the way: homgear -r works and I can search and find all HG modules.
