Having my trusty SBC running hmland, homegear and openhab starting to die on me, I decided to move my installation to an old NUC I had laying around. The transition of hmland and homegear went smoothly, with all devices still paired and showing up - yay to persistent storage!
In the process, I also looked a bit into upgrading the firmware of a couple of homematic thermostats, and saw that homegear includes a script to pull the homematic firmware files on start (GetFirmwareUpdatesHomeMaticBidCoS.sh in /usr/share/homegear/firmware). Unfortunately, that script won’t run / pull firmware files in the docker image version of homegear (homegear:latest) as the image is missing curl. Not sure if that’s a bug or intended, but I thought I’d raise it in case there’s an easy fix.
With that said, thanks for your great work on homegear, it’s keeping my device management separate from the home automation side of things making switching or trying out new things really easy!
